Nikki Sixx Begins Work on "Trilogy Project" for Next Year

Nikki Sixx is preparing for a busy 2019, teasing three projects he has in the works.

The Mötley Crüe bassist made the announcement on his social media earlier this week:

"Officially start working on a new album tomorrow as part of my trilogy project for 2019," he wrote. "Very excited to be working with a handful of different producers and artists to pull the vision that's been haunting me together."

He later added via Twitter that not being on tour since playing Mötley Crüe's final shows in 2016 and putting Sixx: A.M. on hiatus in 2017 has been essential to his creative process this past year.

"I love being off the road," he explained. "As an artist we need to create NEW. That's why we started in the first place..."

Sixx included several hashtags with the Tweet, including #RaiseTheBar.

Other than the four new Mötley Crüe songs Sixx and his band mates recently recorded to accompany their upcoming band biopic, The Dirt (which will be released March 22, 2019), Sixx has said little about his next musical endeavor.

It's unclear whether Sixx is counting The Dirt as part of his "trilogy," if he's going to announce a new band or if Sixx: A.M. will also return.

When asked over the weekend via Twitter if he'd written more songs "meant for Sixx: A.M.," Sixx responded, "We have a lot of cool new music coming next year."
